Set up in the late 1820s in Kasauli by Edward Dyer, Kasauli Brewery happens to be the oldest distillery for ‘scotch whisky’ in Asia. The equipment of brewing and distilling were brought by Edward himself from England and Scotland in the early 19th century. These equipments came by sailing ship before being loaded on the top of ox drawn carts and taken up to the Himalayas through Shimla. In fact, some of the equipment with the copper pot stills of early period is still in use today.
Kasauli Baptist Church is a 1923 brick and wood building situated close to the Sadar Bazzar. According to The Indian Express it is “considered a unique example of colonial architecture of the British era”. In 2008 the church was damaged by a fire which destroyed all internal furnishings.The meaning of baptist is that it is a member of a Christian denomination that the baptizes believers by immersion and that is usually Calvinistic in doctrine
Monkey point is situated in ‘The Air Force Station’ near the Lower Mall region about 4 kilometer from the center of town. According to myth at the Ramayana while Lord Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after acquiring “Sanjivany Booty”,touched the hill by one of His foot. Therefore, top of the hill is in foot shape. On starry and clear night the stunning view of Chandigarh is seen from Monkey Point. There’s Air Force School inside the station premises and is run and managed by the station workers. Cameras And Cell phones are not permitted inside the station and need to be given at the station gate.Network banners are also used.
Dagshai is one of the oldest cantonment towns in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated on top of a 5689 feet (1734 mtr) high hillock that stands sphinx-like astride the Kalka-Shimla Highway at a point about 11 km from Solan.The name Dagshai, according to a popular local legend was derived from Daag-e-Shahi. During the Moghul times a Daag-e-Shahi (royal mark) was put on the forehead of the criminals and sent packing to the then Dagshai village.
